New Delhi: Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has strongly rejected a forged letter circulating on social media that falsely claims the party expressed support for the ongoing protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, calling it a deliberate attempt to spread misinformation and damage its reputation.
The fabricated document was widely shared by several social media users, including BJP supporter and political commentator Ankit Dubey, who used it to link the protest with Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami. The party has categorically denied any association with the document, describing it as fake and part of a coordinated smear campaign.
In an official statement issued on 21 July 2026, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Assistant Secretary General and Central Secretary for Media and Publicity Affairs, Advocate Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair, condemned the circulation of the forged letter, expressing “grave concern” over what it termed a malicious act of disinformation.
The statement clarified that the document, titled “To the Brave Students Leading the Ongoing Movement in India,” was neither issued nor authorised by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and did not represent the party’s views or policies.
Highlighting multiple discrepancies, the party said the document contained several clear signs of forgery. These included the incorrect spelling of the party’s name on the letterhead, the absence of its officially registered address, the omission of a mandatory reference number, and the use of a letterhead and formatting inconsistent with the organisation’s official stationery.
Reaffirming its long-standing position, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami stated that it does not interfere in the internal affairs of other countries. It said the contents of the fabricated letter were entirely inconsistent with the party’s principles, policies, and public positions.
The party alleged that the forged document had been created by “a vested quarter” with the intention of creating confusion, tarnishing its public image, and undermining its relationships with different stakeholders.
Strongly condemning what it described as a malicious act of forgery, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami urged social media users to refrain from sharing the fabricated document. It also appealed to media organisations to verify any statement attributed to the party with its Central Office before publication and called on those responsible for spreading the fake letter to immediately stop the misinformation campaign.
