A video circulating widely on social media has raised questions over the manner in which the Bihar Police identified and booked people in connection with protests against the alleged NEET paper leak. The video features a man identified as Muhammad Sadaqat, who claims he has been named in a police case despite having lived in Russia for the past four months.
According to Sadaqat, he is a resident of Ward No. 12 in Bahadurganj, Kishanganj district, and was named in an FIR related to the protest held at LRP Chowk on July 24. He maintains that he could not have participated in the demonstration because he has been outside India since before the protest took place.
In the viral video, Sadaqat appeals to the district administration and the police to remove his name from the case. He says that he has been in Russia for the last four months and requests officials to verify the facts before proceeding against him. He adds that he would remain grateful if the administration corrects what he describes as a mistaken inclusion in the FIR.
The video has sparked debate on social media, with several users questioning the process adopted by the police to identify individuals allegedly involved in the protest. Many have called for a thorough verification of evidence before criminal cases are registered.
Responding to the controversy, Kishanganj Superintendent of Police Hari Mohan Shukla did not confirm whether Sadaqat’s name appears in the FIR. However, he stated that anyone who believes they have been wrongly implicated is free to approach the police with relevant documents or evidence, and their grievance will be examined in accordance with the law.
The incident comes amid heightened scrutiny of police action following demonstrations over the alleged NEET paper leak. While the authenticity of Sadaqat’s claims has not been independently verified, the viral video has intensified public discussion about the accuracy of police investigations and the importance of verifying identities before registering criminal cases.
